After several seasons where guests faced retaliation for their planet plundering, Howl-O-Scream Orlando rewound time back to the 90s. Unlike the Y2K frights that created a fear of plunging the world into a dead zone, the SeaWorld Orlando creative team delivered on their promise. Dayglow colors may have shined in the darkness, but there was no hiding from the terror that lurked around every corner.
As theme park fans have come to appreciate, the annual Howl-O-Scream Orlando is the more interactive, intense seasonal event in the area. From the immersive bars and scarezones to the eerie haunted houses and creative food and beverages, this is the Halloween event that takes risks. Over the years, that willingness to be different gets people through the gate.
The tag line for this year’s event states “rot runs deep.” While Pestilence is the new character that infects her presence, there is a bigger sense of nostalgia tempered with a hint of caution. At one moment everyone happily sings about not wanting to be a fool yet they willingly walk into a creepy, crawly infestation. The juxtaposition throughout this event is what makes it so entertaining.

The 2026 Howl-O-Scream Orlando haunted houses are I Know What You Did Last Summer, Everything Must Stay, The Rave Yard, The Dark Net, and The Crawl Space. As many people have come to appreciate at this event, it is easy to do all the houses, and even hit some multiple times, in a single night.
The most fun of the five is I Know What You Did Last Summer. Yes, here are plenty of references to classic movie scenes. The Fisherman is everywhere. Although everyone knows about his menacing ways, he is less scary and more fun. But, that’s a good thing. You want to see him showing up in a hidden corner, behind a screen, or just reaching out with that hook.
The creepiest house is Everything Must Stay. While not a hoarder’s abode, the left behind dolls, toys, and other items have the most eerie vibe. The long row of stuffies behind glass is a visual that cannot be forgotten. It is the experience that preys on deeply rooted fears.
The Dark Net is the concept is the dire warning that people need to hear. The writing is on the wall, both literally and figurately. While not quite post-apocalyptic, it is a world where no one wants to inhabit. The fear in this house is not the jump scare; it is could this world become reality.
The Rave Yard is the only returning house. The concept fits into the 90s vibe perfectly. This space is the one where everyone wants to stay and party. Yes, there are scary moments and gotcha corners. But, the more open spaces and smart visuals have everyone grooving before they scream.
Lastly, The Crawl Space is a quick run that has some curious elements. In a way, the creative team kept the icky in check. Those slugs are not as menacing as they could be. But, the hanging fishing wire is the subtle addition that adds to the gross factor.
Can’t Miss Howl-O-Scream Bites and Beverages
This year, the SeaWorld Orlando culinary team took theming to a whole new level at Howl-O-Scream. From twists on afterschool snacks to beverages straight from the lunchbox, new treats satisfied all night long.
The best spot to start the night is the Unfortunate, located across from the Resurrection Club (aka The Glacier Bar). Always a fan favorite, the Spooky Teriyaki Chicken Hibachi Grilled Chicken Stir Fry Rice with Vegetables, Garlic and Soy Sauce returns. It is a hearty portion and bursting with bold flavors. Personally, the fried rice option is the better choice.
Consider pairing this dish with a Dubstep Mash (Whiskey, Lemon, Simple Syrup) from the Resurrection Bar. The tangy cocktail balances the hearty rice and chicken. It is a great meal to begin the food and beverage feast.
Another top choice is the Mercado de los Muertos. The Beef Birria Ramen is a smart food mashup example. The beef is rich, flavor and a wonderful contrast to the simple ramen. Even if this dish could benefit from a bit more spice, it is a great option to stay energized and soothe after all the screaming.
Consider pairing that dish with La Ofrenda. The mocktail does not need any spirits. The combination of Hibiscus, Pineapple, Lime, Agave, Sparkling Water, and Marigold Bloom is a lovely nod to culturally relevant flavors and subtle flavor pairings.
