Looking for a sipper with more appeal? The new Sonic Banana Pudding beverages take the fruity flavor trend in a new direction. Ready to enjoy that first sip?
Time and again, Sonic knows how to take trending food ideas and make them their own. From the Hotumn beverages to value meals, the popular quick service restaurant makes it own path. It is one of the reasons why the brand continues to be America’s Favorite Drive-In.
While Sonic’s food items get a lot of buzz, its drinks have people making a special visit. Whether it is Happy Hour deals or that iconic ice, every sip satisfies.
Recently, Sonic has been focusing on its beverage menu. It is the quick way to embrace trends, offer something new, or just find new menu pairings. Plus, it is easy for these items to roll on and off the menu.
Banana has been taking over people’s drinks. It started with coffee, but now it has expanded beyond it. Sonic found a way to take a favorite banana-centric, Southern dessert and make it the hottest new drink.
Speaking about the Banana Pudding beverages, Ryan Dickerson, Chief Marketing Officer at Sonic, said, “Banana has quickly become one of the most talked-about flavors, and Sonic is putting its own spin on the trend in a way only we can, with a new collection of both sips and sweets to indulge in. From the return of our beloved Banana Pudding Shake to new trends that only Sonic can deliver like Banana Dirty Dr Pepper, this lineup brings together nostalgic favorites and new innovation that tap into guests’ growing appetite for fruit-forward flavors.”

What are the New Sonic Banana Pudding Drinks?
Available at participating restaurants and via the app, the new Banana Pudding beverages are: Banana Pudding Shake, Banana Pudding Blast, Banana Dirty Dr Pepper, and Banana Pudding Cream Slush. Basically, there are a bunch of ways to unpeel that banana flavor.
The most creative of the four drinks is the Banana Dirty Dr Pepper. While Dr Pepper has 23 different flavors in its iconic soda, it works well with the creamy banana. A few of those spicy and herbaceous notes lift the classic banana taste. With the added creaminess, it feels indulgent but it is never heavy. This drink makes a great “drinkable dessert.”
The Banana Pudding Blast is closest to the original dessert. It has vanilla wafer cookie pieces and creamy texture. For anyone who appreciates a little crunch in their frozen dessert, this option is the winner.
Lastly, the Banana Pudding Cream Slush might be the one drink that could have been left off the menu. While it is understandable that Sonic would want to add another Slush, the other three beverages most successfully capture the banana pudding flavor.
