Long before the leaves change color or the sweaters are needed, fall flavors hit the menu. Pumpkins, apples, maple, spice, and other seasonal ingredients fill the table. While people hunger for those favorite foods, summer does not have to disappear so quickly. Sonic’s Hotumn beverages savor those final warm days with a burst of satisfying refreshment.
While many people love Sonic’s burgers, fries, and even tots, the restaurant brand’s beverages are a bigger draw. From that signature ice to the customization, people hit the company’s Happy Hour deals multiple times a week.
Sonic has used its beverages to adopt food trends, too. From vibrant flavors to creamy textures, the drink menu evolves time and again. Whether drunk on their own or paired with a favorite food, the restaurant brand understands that drinks are both fun and a business driver.
As many other food and beverage brands dive into the warm, cozy in August, Sonic takes a different approach. It is Hotumn and these drinks are delightfully refreshing.
Speaking about the Hotumn beverages, Ryan Dickerson, Chief Marketing Officer at Sonic said, “Sonic has been serving up fun, customizable drinks long before dirty sodas became a trend. In many parts of the country, it’s still way too hot for a steaming latte. We saw an opportunity to join the fall beverage conversation in a fun way and bring a little Sonic personality to a seasonal tradition people look forward to every year. We’re putting our own spin on what a fall drink moment can look like with Hotumn – and it’s not a hot drink.”

What Are Sonic’s New Hotumn Beverages?
Available starting on August 24, Sonic features four Hotumn beverages. They are Cherry Pie made with Coke, Blueberry Pie made with Dr Pepper, Harvest Berry made with Sprite, and Cranberry Orchard Sweet Tea. As the names convey, the flavors are sweet, cozy, and fun. Yet, they are served chilled, which is a must for the hot August temperatures.
Looking four beverages, the Cranberry Orchard Sweet Tea seems most like fall. That sweet, tart flavor offers a similarity to a Thanksgiving table. Yes, there is some peach mixed in with the cranberry, that tartness comes through.
In a way, this tea could be a new trend. Why just have summer fruit in that cold beverage. From cranberry to pomegranate, there are a bounty of combinations.
The Cherry Pie made with Coke is a great option for anyone who loves Cherry Coke or even Vanilla Cherry Coke. The combination of cherry, vanilla, and sweet cream is a classic. In a way, it almost feels like a shake without the extra creaminess.
This drink reads more like a dessert. For someone who wants to end a meal on a sweet note but prefers a lighter option, this beverage is a must order.
Lastly, the Blueberry Pie made with Dr Pepper is the most unusual. In a way, this combination channels a barbecue. Yes, blueberries and Dr Pepper can be used in some barbecue recipes. It is unusual, but one that needs to be tried.
The combination of blueberry puree, vanilla, sweet cream, and Dr Pepper could influence some other dessert recipes. Just think about some twists on the traditional blueberry pie or crisp?
The new Hotumn beverages hit restaurants on August 24. Check with locations for availability and pricing.
