The beloved quick service restaurant just dropped a curious, very limited time offering. Celebrating the Chicago Marathon, McDonald’s Pickle Boost will fuel avid runners’ goals of crossing that finish line. Could this briny beverage ever hit the real McDonald’s menu?
According to a recent McDonald’s announcement, the restaurant brand announced it would be celebrating the upcoming Chicago Marathon in a new way. The limited edition, marathon only offering, Pickle Boost, will be available at select location prior to the race and during the event.
As many people appreciate, pickle juice can offer quick recovery for workouts, including long runs. From helping with cramps to hydration, the salty, tangy beverage is a quick shot to keep those legs turning mile after mile.
The McDonald’s offering will be available on Friday, October 9 at Lakefront Trail at 2401 N Lake Shore Drive. Anyone doing a pre-race shakeout run can grab a bottle from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CT.
During the Chicago Marathon, people can grab one at the Pickle Boost Pit Stops along the race route. The locations are: 2635 N Clark St, 1563 N Wells St, 600 N Clark St, 203 N LaSalle St, and 207 E 35th St. The locations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CT. The offer is available to both runners and spectators.

What Makes McDonald’s Pickle Juice So Special?
While this promotion is a fun way to support the Chicago Marathon, the idea of McDonald’s Pickle Juice hitting menus does have merit. Although it might not be the Special Sauce or it hits differently than Spicy McNuggets, there is something special about a McDonald’s Pickle.
That ingredient can sometimes be overlooked on a sandwich. Hidden under the burger, combined with some ketchup, or smooshed to the bun, people might not make it a priority, but a bite is incomplete without it. That tangy taste rounds out all the other flavors.
The flavor comes from the brand’s signature brine. It is not too dill forward nor is it sweet. The well-balanced taste is designed to work with all the menu items. In some ways, it is the true secret behind McDonald’s sandwiches.
Would people buy a bottle of the signature pickle brine? Why not? The possibilities are many. Who wouldn’t want to make up a specialty drink, sauce, or even dessert with that ingredient. Just think of the Bloody Mary for brunch.
Additionally, McDonald’s could benefit from a consumer product. Other restaurant brands bottle their signature sauces. The Golden Arches could bottle this beverage and give people an opportunity to enjoy a signature item anytime they choose. It might not be the simple joy of unboxing a Happy Meal, but it would bring a smile to many people’s faces.
Will you be lucky enough to snag a bottle of McDonald’s Pickle Boost? If you do, how will you enjoy it?
