July 16 is National Dole Whip Day. Whether enjoyed in a Disney Park or at home, the believed dessert is always delightfully refreshing. These three new Dole Whip recipes transform the fruity treat into innovative and fun dishes.
Since 1984, Dole Whip has been part of the Disney food lore. As the melodies of the birds singing the Tiki song waft in the air, that first spoonful of frozen pineapple lusciousness satisfies.
Over the years, Disney Parks transformed the simple treat with numerous flavors. From fun floats to spicy spoonfuls, the simple fruity frozen dessert has limitless possibilities.
That endearing connection to the juicy, tropical fruit is rooted in enjoying Dole pineapples. At the heart of the recipe is the Dole Pineapple. Even with its underlying simplicity, people never get bored with it.
As Bil Goldfield, director of corporate communications for Dole Food Company commented, “Certainly, no one could have predicted that more than four decades later this simple frozen treat would evolve into its own lifestyle and subbrand in itself supported by worldwide fan groups, dozens of fresh-ingredient recipe variations and its own line of merchandise.”
Celebrate Dole Whip Day with Three New Innovative Recipes
This year, three new Dole Whip recipes debut for the annual National Dole Whip Day. They are Key Lime Pie Dole Whip, Watermelon-Pineapple Agua Fresca Dole Whip, and Dole Whip Banana Split Sundae.
These new recipes are not only innovative examples of Dole Whip’s versatility, but also they showcase that dessert and healthier eating can go hand in hand. As Melanie Marcus, MA, RD, manager of nutrition, wellness and communications at Dole Food Company commented, “After years of campaigns and coaching, the fact is that most Americans still aren’t getting their daily recommended servings of fresh fruits and vegetables – so we see our expanding Dole Whip lineup as a proven way to make healthier eating and snacking more delicious and fun.”

For example, the Key Lime Pie Dole Whip takes the essence of the traditional Florida dessert and makes it more fruit forward. Packed with Dole bananas, limes, coconut milk, and pineapple, it has the tart, tangy flavor while still highlighting the fruit. No on feels guilty when asking for a full serving of this treat.
The Watermelon-Pineapple Agua Fresca takes a favorite, refreshing Mexican beverage and adds familiar flavors. Given this summer’s intense heat wave, the combination of pineapple, lime, watermelon, and mint feel like a refreshing tropical breeze. Blending cultures shows how the Dole Whip is the bridge connecting communities.
Lastly, the Dole Whip Banana Split Sundae is an easy way to upgrade the original FIY Dole Whip. Instead of sugary, processed toppings, the sundae features fresh fruits like bananas, blueberries, and raspberries. Again, it shows that no one has to totally skip a sweet ending. Instead, simple swaps satisfy those cravings.
Dole’s website offers these recipes and the other Dole Whip ideas. Also, Disney Parks, around the world, as well as Disney Resorts, offer a wide variety of Dole desserts.
