While people swoon over the new flavorful Valentine’s Day beverages, Starbucks wants to be more than just another coffee run. The Cookie Croissant Swirl and other new bakery items set the coffeehouse to be an elevated bakery.
Starbucks is trying to refine its coffee culture. After years of colorful Frappuccino offerings and visually compelling drinks, the brand steps back. By focusing on coffee, craft and community, it implores people to skip the screen and share around the table.
The new bakery items implore people to embrace that idea of the coffee house and third space. These food items encourage people to sit, enjoy and appreciate the moment. It might not be that previous morning mantra, but it is a needed reset.
What Is the new Cookie Croissant Swirl?
Part of its new bakery line, the Cookie Croissant Swirl combines a pastry with a classic dessert. It is sweet, flaky and totally indulgent.
The flaky buttery croissant layers are swirled with chocolate. The rich chocolate is just enough to fill every bite yet does not overpower the delicate pastry.
Topped with chocolate streusel and cookie pieces, the contrasting texture adds to the sting enjoyment. Just like sprinkles on a sundae add some pizzazz, these toppings elevate the whole eating experience.
Thinking about this Cookie Croissant Swirl, it is a unique item that represents what Starbucks does best. It transforms familiar food and beverages with innovation yet never overshadows the original item.
Whether people pair the new treat with the new 1971 Roast, a traditional cappuccino or even a shaken espresso, this new bakery item is a must order.
Starbucks New Bakery Items Balance Food Trends and innovation
In addition to the new Cookie Croissant Swirl, Starbucks adds several new bakery items. They are Dubai Chocolate Bite, Berry Blonde, Strawberry Matcha Loaf, Yuzu Citrus Blossom and Chocolate Pistachio Loaf.
Although the Dubai Chocolate trend is oversaturated, this dessert will find an audience. The combination of texture and rich chocolate makes it a great mid-afternoon treat. But, other bakery items should get more attention.
The Yuzu Citrus Blossom is a must try. The vibrant citrus filling conjures springtime bliss. Additionally, it is a nice twist on a filled croissant. Although the teased raspberry filled croissant from LE25 still fills my taste memories, this croissant-like treat might become my new obsession.
Also, yuzu was a dominate coffee flavor at LE25. Although those specialty coffees have not found footing on the national menu, this bakery item is a nice introduction to the specialty citrus flavor. And, it pairs quite well with coffee.
Lastly, the Strawberry Matcha Loaf is another food trend that continues to dominate menus. Although this matcha flavor is subtle, the dessert feels more like a visually impressive option than a bold flavor. Even though the strawberry tempers the matcha, it is more sweet than earthy.
These new Starbucks bakery items are hitting stores on February 9, 2026. Check with retailers for availability and pricing.
