Speaking about the return of this particular beer, Aaron Baker, Brand Director at Oskar Blues Brewery said, “Maybe we got a little too weird for 2017, but we’re not afraid of weird at Oskar Blues. Deviant Dale’s is a great IPA with a ton of personality – it’s big, it’s loud, it’s really flavorful – and we’re excited to have it back.”
Since it has been a bit since anyone sipped on a Deviant Dale’s, a refresher on the flavor profile proves that Oskar Blues was ahead of its time. First, the aroma hits with tart grapefruit. The citrus note is vibrant, even refreshing. It is that burst of brightness that awakens the palate for an enjoyable, yet challenging sip.
The pine notes channel a crisp, outdoorsy vibe. It is bold, in your face, and even a little unrelenting. At the same time, it is enjoyable. Just like food that challenges the palate, a great, big, bold beer needs to make people think. No one is chugging this drink. It is meant to be savored.

Deviant Dale’s Imperial IPA has an 8% ABV. It is available now through November 1. Beer drinkers can purchase it in 12-ounce can six packs and it can be found on draft at select locations.
