When the temperatures are in the triple digits, no one is thirsty for mulled wine or cozy sippers. But, a riff on those favorite holiday cocktails for Christmas in July is a great option. Ready to sip on this Frozen Coquito?

Coquito is a popular holiday beverage in Puerto Rico. Many families have their signature recipe. Whether it has been passed down through the generations or created on a whim, it is a seasonal tradition.

For those unfamiliar with the classic cocktail, the beverage always features rum. People tend to choose their favorite version of the spirit. From a simple white rum to a spiced version, the liquor adds nuance to the other ingredients.

Additionally, the other coquito ingredients tend to be similar. Evaporated milk, condensed milk, coconut cream, and warm spices are standard. While it is never as simple as a 2-1-1 sour cocktail ratio, the foundation is usually the same.
