Set to debut in August 2027, the fourth Icon Class ship, Hero of the Seas will be the pinnacle of the multi-generational family vacation. From bold thrills to quiet occasions, every minute will be filled with memorable moments. The most memorable food experience is one that will continue to feed families long after they disembark.
Time and again, Royal Caribbean raises the bar on its vacation concepts. From its private islands to its on board entertainment, guests know that every demographic will find an activity to fill their day. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities to come together as a family. It is almost like having multiple vacations in one.
Over the years, the impressive Icon Class has changed the way people cruise. The cruise industry has had a surge in popularity. Larger ships and their various neighborhoods cater to the guests who long for a little bit of everything. Whether it is dropping into the thrills at the water park to the leisurely early evening in Central Park, every nook offers another moment of vacation escapism.
With Hero of the Seas, Royal Caribbean wants to rescue everyone from mediocrity. By amplifying every experience, it ensures that guests will not only remember the trip fondly but will anticipate the next booking.
As Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean said, “Icon Class truly set a new standard for family vacations, and Hero of the Seas takes that vision even further. With more water, more thrills and more choices for all ages, we’re continuing to build on what our guests love about Royal Caribbean and delivering the experiences families are looking for when vacationing together.”
What Is the Must Try Hero of the Seas Food Experience?
According to Royal Caribbean, Hero of the Seas will feature 28 dining spots. While traditional favorites, like Izumi, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, El Loco Fresh and even Sorrento’s, satisfy guests’ craving for familiar foods, it is the new dining experiences that have people eagerly anticipating their reservation.
New on Hero of the Seas will be a hands-on cooking class. The family-friendly offering will be held in a new Surfside neighborhood venue. Not only will families get involved in the process, they will learn some valuable skills that they can take to their own kitchen.
From simple recipes to more advanced baking, the interactive class gets guests’ thinking. Food is the common connector. Engaging all-ages in a cooking class is a way to find commonalities.
From the tween who is starting to pull away to the parent to feels overwhelmed, the hour spent chopping, mixing and creating a dish is time to put away the distractions and learn a little more about each other. Plus, that dish is one that can be served time and again. One bite makes the vacation memories front and center.
Revamping the Surfside dining experience is smart for Royal Caribbean. The other restaurant was an underutilized space. While the Lemon Post bar is a great space for adults and kids, it needs an equally as impressive dining venue. This new cooking class and venue will be that concept.
Other vacation brands have leveraged kid-centric food television shows, like MasterChef Junior, in their on site family experiences. Royal Caribbean has a big opportunity to reach a wider audience both on and off the ship. Instead of an old-school cooking demo, this all-ages cooking class gets people involved. Everyone will be snapping, sharing and recreating those dishes for everyone to see.
More New Food Experiences Debut on Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas
While cruise guests love familiar favorites, they hunger for new experiences, too. On Hero of the Seas, the food and beverage team will deliver.
The popular supper club experience expands to Orleans Parish Supper Club. Channeling the French Quarter, food will be inspired by Cajun and Creole dishes. Whether it is traditional red beans and rice or a rich gumbo, the menu will feature both approachable dishes and some creative twists.
Also, the cocktail program will be a highlight. As seen in other supper club offerings, the carefully curated cocktail pairings will impress. Whether these New Orleans inspired cocktails will feature a spritz of absinthe in La Louisiane or chicory coffee infused beverage, there will be a libation that will surprise.
Adding to the eatertainment offerings, Royal Railway joins the dining options. Considered the most immersive dining experience at sea, it will be interesting to see what theme Hero of the Seas chooses for this venue. Whether it is more family inclusive, a potential Orient Express mystery or an elegant journey through Napa, the possibilities are many.
Lastly, the always popular AquaDome Market will debut four new stall concepts. These quick bite offerings are always popular. Additionally, it is a way for the culinary team to embrace food trends. Whether it is Indian, Peruvian or maybe African, it would be a smart way to allow guests to journey the world one plate at a time.
Hero of the Seas will debut in August 2027. Bookings will begin in April 2026. Itineraries will depart from Miami.
