When the Bacon Wrangler Double hit the menu, guests were ecstatic. People flocked to restaurants for a taste.
If people do not remember that satisfying the Bacon Wrangler featured two 100% beef patties, layers of American and Monterey Jack cheeses, bacon, crispy onion strings, pickles, and smoky chipotle aioli. One bite hit all the flavor profiles. Hearty, spicy, even a hint of sweet made for delicious balance. The only concern was being able to open your mouth wide enough for a bite.
This year, Whataburger adds to the Bacon Wrangler Menu with a chicken option. The sandwich has all the key elements but swaps the chicken for beef.
Speaking about the new limited time menu option, Whataburger Corporate Chef James Sanchez said, “The Bacon Wrangler Double earned plenty of fans after its debut last year. This time around, we wanted to give Guests another way to enjoy those same craveable flavors by introducing the all-new Bacon Wrangler Chicken.”
Whataburger Is Smart to Add a Chicken Sandwich Option Based on a Fan Favorite
Although the chicken sandwich wars have faded from the conversation, people still crave a poultry menu item. Even if guests choose beef more frequently, they appreciate the ability to switch up their order.
Additionally, adding a chicken option to the limited-time menu, one that is a direct swap, makes it easy for restaurants to implement. The sandwich build is basically the same. Also, there is no additional cost to add chicken that is used in other menu items.
Lastly, it is nice that Whataburger allows guests to choose their preferred chicken option. The Bacon Wrangle can include classic Whatachick’n, Spicy Chicken or Grilled Chicken filet. Again, it allows customization while still staying within food choices that are already on the menu.
Both the Bacon Wrangler Double and the Bacon Wrangler Chicken join the Whataburger menu for a limited time on August 18. Although prices can vary, the Bacon Wrangler Double starts at $9.99 and the Bacon Wrangler Chicken starts at $7.99.
