Wonder what drink is waiting at the end of the rainbow? The new Sonic Sour Shamrock Slush is a sweet, tart and delightful treat. No tricks in this Leprechaun approved beverage.

Sonic understands that beverages are just as important as juicy, craveable burgers, tots and Coney Dogs. Whether it is the special ice or the mid-afternoon price break on purchases, the signature Slush is always a refreshing sip.

Ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, the new Sonic Sour Shamrock Slush hits restaurants. With a suggested price of $3.99, the specialty drink combines a bold flavor with a striking visual.

According to Barbara Williams, Vice President of Culinary Innovation & Category Management at Sonic, “Our guests come to Sonic for fun, craveable experiences, and the Sour Shamrock Slush is no exception. With a bright green apple slush, tart sour flavors and popping rainbow candy, the Sour Shamrock Slush isn’t just a drink, it’s a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in a cup.”

What Can You Expect from Sonic Sour Shamrock Slush?

The Sonic Sour Shamrock Slush starts with green apple flavor. In addition to giving the beverage its color, the green apple has a subtle tartness. The fruitiness is bright yet familiar. It is a strong starting point.

Then, the slush is topped with sour popping candy. That ingredient amplifies the playfulness. Just like the Leprechaun’s little pranks, a sprinkling of mischief can be fun.

The whipped topping and rainbow candy strip add to the classic St. Patrick’s Day imagery. It might not be the pot of gold waiting at the end of the rainbow, but it is a treasure to enjoy on a sunny day.

Sonic is smart to launch the specialty St. Patrick’s Day inspired beverage. While many other brands serve focus on minty desserts, no one else is doing sour. That pucker forward drink has a broad appeal.

At the same time, it is sweet. When people want a treat but do not want to have a calorie dense choice, the Slush is a good alternative.

Could Sonic have more limited time Slush flavors on the horizon? Only time will tell what the quick service restaurant has in store for 2026.
