Let the good times roll. While many people jump at the opportunity to stroll down Bourbon Street and enjoy all the Mardi Gras festivities, others will toast to the annual celebration at home. This season, skip the traditional Hurricane cocktail and toast to a signature dessert. These King Cake inspired cocktails will be the hit of any celebration.

Celebrations and significant pop culture moments deserve special beverages. It is more than eggnog at the holidays or a mint julep during the Kentucky Derby. A unique, different and flavorful sipper makes the moment even more enjoyable.

King Cake is a classic Mardi Gras treat. While people can debate over the baby tradition, the best flavors or even the shape, the reality is people crave that sweet treat. Whether people fast for Lent or just want an excuse to have dessert, King Cake season is a reason to indulge.

This year, Oxbow Rum shared two cocktails inspired by King Cake. While these beverages are not necessarily a substitute for the dessert, they are on the sweeter side. Still, they capture the Mardi Gras exuberance.

As Caleb Kahl, Oxbow Tasting Room Manager, explained, “Both the King Cake Shot and the King Cake Espresso Martini are inspired by the flavors of Mardi Gras. We use a blend of warm baking spices, creamy sweetness, and a touch of indulgence to capture the spirit of Fat Tuesday in a glass. The shot is playful and garnished in the festival’s signature colors, while the espresso martini adds a richer, late-night twist, making them perfect for parade day.”
