Who says that a bucket of fried chicken is only for a big family? KFC Go Buckets are the perfect size for the person who wants to satisfy that craving without the leftovers.
Whether it is the rise of protein centric meals, changes in portion sizes, or just looking for value, quick service restaurants adapt to these food trends. Even if the amount of food shrinks, people do not want to overspend. When a restaurant can find the right balance, the new menu item becomes an instant hit.
The new KFC Go Buckets are the new food menu choice that filled a big gap in the menu. That iconic KFC bucket has been a staple, but people need a friend or two to eat all that fried chicken. With the new option, the individual serving is just the right size.
As said Melissa Cash, Chief Marketing Officer, KFC U.S. said, “People want food to fit into their day, not the other way around. Go Buckets open up a new snacking occasion for KFC, whether guests are grabbing one on the go or picking up a few to feed the group. We wanted to meet those changing habits by giving guests more for their money while making it easier to enjoy the KFC they know and love.”

What are the KFC Go Buckets?
KFC has a long history with buckets of fried chicken. The original option started as 14 pieces of Kentucky Fried Chicken, five rolls and a pint of gravy. It was, and still is, the ultimate family meal.
But, those bigger meals are being replaced with “snacks.” Whether it is the smaller portions or people just eating when the need hits, restaurants need to adapt with smaller, cost-effective, protein-packed options. The new menu item does just that.
The KFC Go Bucket includes a choice of four nuggets, two wings or one tender. All three options come with a choice of fries or wedges. Depending on the order, a Go Bucket can have between 16 to 18 grams of protein.
Priced at $3.49, the value cannot be beat for a snack. It feels more like a meal. Additionally, there is no “kids” label which makes many people happy.
Could KFC do more with these new buckets. The simple answer is yes. Maybe there is a way to turn other menu options into a “smaller” version. Anyone predict a snack bowl in the near future?
For now, grab the new Go Bucket. It is cheaper than ordering another protein latte and it is much more satisfying.
