When the fog first met the Upside Down, fans of both Halloween Horror Nights and Stranger Things cheered. The final moment when guests stared down Eleven on their way out of the maze stayed with me far longer than the ear worm of the “Never Ending Story.” Now that Stranger Things has ended, HHN gives the final chapter a send off of epic measures.
Part of both Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and in Hollywood, the Universal Creative Team partnered with Netflix to bring Hawkins and the Upside Down to life. As many people remember from previous HHN offerings, the attention to detail in these experiences is tremendous.
Even though the wait times can be tremendous, people happily lined up time and again. It was more than being brave enough to open your eyes during the scary parts. It was the Easter eggs along the way. Plus, who didn’t love rocking along with Eddie in his scene.
For the 2026 Halloween Horror Nights event, the experience begins in Hawkins. From the Wheeler Hours to the MAC-Z military base, guests traverse them all. Luckily, people emerge unscathed.
But, the terrifying Vecna and the dreaded Demogorgons cannot be avoided. As any fan knows, the Upside Down has sinister creatures at every corner. There is no avoiding these perils. Only the brave will survive.
The Stranger Things announcement follows the Sinners reveal earlier this summer. Additionally, both Jack and Dr. Oddfellow led the Infernal Carnival of Nightmares at Universal Orlando event. Additional curiosities will be revealed this summer.
Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights runs select nights from Friday, August 28 through Sunday, November 1 at Universal Orlando Resort. The event runs from Thursday, September 3 through Sunday, November 1 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
