As people continue to maximize their protein grams, food brands and businesses understand that they must adapt. When Starbucks debuted its protein infused beverages, the menu addition gave people what they had been wanting. Starbucks’ Protein Power Hour proves that coffee drinks can have one beverage that fits all their needs.

According to Starbucks, Friday mornings at 8 a.m. are Protein Power Hour. Whether it is the treat to kick off the weekend or part of the weekly routine, orders for protein infused beverages are greatest at this time.

Given how guests can customize their protein infused drinks, that beverage is never boring. Even if the perfectly crafted recipe is a quick order, people know whatever the combination will be delicious.

The idea of layering protein into a classic drink resonates. From a simple cold foam topping that sweet Frappuccino or boosting a traditional latte with protein, stacking the grams is simple. Instead of having to choose another shake or coffee, it is the singular sip that checks all the boxes.

Why Does Starbucks’ Protein Drinks Resonate with Guests?

When Starbucks debuted its protein options in September 2025, people could not wait to try the offerings. The choice to embrace food trends not only appealed to loyal guests but also opened the doors to an untapped audience. Instead of that layered latte being a special treat, it became a staple order.

According to Starbucks, 90 percent of its beverages can be customized with protein-boosted milk or protein cold foam. From the new Chai with its bold spices to a matcha latte with its vibrant color, people can find a drink that works with their preferences.

Personally, my special treat beverage is a Mocha Frappuccino with a Brown Sugar Protein Cold foam. When a milkshake craving hits, this order satisfies my sweet tooth yet does not completely derail my balanced food choices. Yes, it is more calories than normal, but it is that splurge that always satisfies.

As Starbucks continues to adapt to food and beverage trends, it will be interesting to see what will be next for the coffee giant. Maximizing protein is one aspect, but could fiber-maxing be next? If there is a way to infuse that protein packed drink with a serving of fiber, the concept could check all the boxes. Until then, people will just need to enjoy some fruit, chai seeds or maybe a bran muffin with that drink.
