Over the years, Papa Johns pushed people’s perspective of the traditional pizza slice. From bowls of just toppings to wrapping those fresh ingredients in its classic dough, innovation paired with familiarity earned the brand customer loyalty. With this new event, Papa Johns reached for the stars and sparks a food conversation no one saw coming.
In the fine dining world, a few accolades are highly coveted. The elusive Michelin Star is the pinnacle of annual impeccable restaurant experience. The precision, passion and determination to impress requires a team effort.
While tasting menus and delicately plated dishes captivate Michelin judges, food trends evolve. Today’s diners seek more than white table cloth service. Approachable, innovative and even off the beaten track are just as worthy high praise.
Papa Johns latest promotion is a little tongue in cheek but is vital to a serious food discussion. In its bid to become a Michelin recognized restaurant, it is hosting a pop-up event in New York City. Designed to highlight its new Pan Pizza, the hard to get reservation will be the talk of the town.
As Jenna Bromberg, Chief Marketing Officer at Papa Johns shared, “This is a love letter to a food that has shaped moments and memories for decades. That’s why we’re putting our Pan Pizza front and center. If any QSR pizza belongs in a MICHELIN‑level conversation, it’s this one. Years in the making, our Pan Pizza was built to impress.”
Papa Johns Unique Pop-Up Sparks a Bigger Food Conversation
According to Papa Johns, the special dining event on February 19 is a three-course tasting menu. Featuring the Pan Pizza, the courses will be paired with Pepsi Cola flights.
This concept will create a lot of buzz for several reasons. First, will Papa Johns transform the pan pizza slightly for each course, will it serve edges or middle pieces, or will it stick to the traditional menu offerings? Since the pizza brand allows guests to utilize its fresh ingredients in creative ways, this experience is the perfect time to push the flavor envelope. After all, a real Michelin experience is meant to exceed expectations.
Additionally, the idea of a Pepsi pairing flight is a concept people can try at home. As the beverage brand has touted, “food deserves Pepsi,” it is a creative way to highlight flavors. Since the caramel forward cola can enhance and contrast flavors, it will be interesting to see how the “soda sommelier” works his magic.
With more people choosing not to imbibe, soda pairings could become the new trend. It is another way example how classic food and beverages can be reinterpreted.
Will Papa Johns get a Michelin star? That answer is rather obvious, but this concept will flavor food promotions going forward.
