On St. Patrick’s Day, many people feel a wee bit Irish. It is more than just enjoying some corned beef or an Irish stew. The annual celebration creates a community. Guinness understands that this one day is important, but the sentiments toasted for that occasion should continue time and again.

Instead of green dyed beer or a stiff Irish whiskey shot, Guinness, both its iconic stout and other beers under the Guinness brand, flow from the taps. Whether people can split the “G” or choose to slowly sip that delicious beer, the beverage is more than just an enjoyable drink. It brings people together, creates stories and makes lasting memories.

Around St. Patrick’s Day, people turn to Guinness. From a person’s first taste to infusing the flavor into various food recipes, the iconic beer offers tremendous versatility. This year, the beer brand is giving people more reasons to celebrate.

According to Karissa Downer, Director of Guinness in the United States, “St. Patrick’s Day is about ritual, pride and community. It’s the one time of year when everyone feels a little bit Irish — and there’s no better way to mark the moment than with a Guinness in hand. This March, we’re giving people even more reasons to come together, celebrate and raise a pint.”

Fun and Flavorful Ways to Raise a Glass to Guinness

Every year, Guinness finds new, creative and innovative ways to add to the spirited St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. While everyone appreciates a perfectly poured beer, that classic stout works well in a wide array of food and beverage options.

For example, Guinness launched a limited time offering with the viral PopUp Bagels. Available through March 25, the Guinness Chocolate Stout Cake Schmear captures the deliciousness of a classic Guinness Chocolate cake with a slightly tangy taste.

While this schmear works well on a bagel, it can be used in many more ways. From a cake icing to a sandwich cookie, the dessert options are many. Even though the concept found an amendable way to bring Guinness to the breakfast table, the schmear can be enjoyed any time of the day.

Guinness Flavors Sweet Sips for St. Patrick’s Day

Since the PopUp Bagels collaboration put Guinness on the breakfast table, it sparks a discussion on other sweet transformations of the Irish beer. Epcot food festival fans eagerly await the annual return of the Irish shake. That frozen chocolate beverage infused with Guinness flavor is always a sweet way to end the day.

For St. Patrick’s Day, the Lotte New York Palace brought back its specialty Guinness Float. Available now through March 22 exclusively in the Gold Room, the dessert features homemade Bailey’s Irish ice cream topped with Guinness Stout. Also, it is accompanied by a Jameson Irish Whiskey sidecar.

Since some people will be unable to enjoy the Guinness Float in person, here’s the recipe to make it at home.

Ingredients:

  • 3 scoops homemade Baileys Irish Cream ice cream
  • Guinness Beer
  • 1.5 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey

Method:

  • Place three generous scoops of homemade Bailey’s ice cream into pilsner glass
  • Carefully fill the remainder of the glass with Guinness Beer
  • Pour 1.5 oz of Jameson Irish Whiskey into shot glass, which can be enjoyed as a float or accompaniment
  • Serve with straw(s)

If homemade Bailey’s ice cream is not an option, a good vanilla ice cream works well, too. Even a rich chocolate can work. Basically, it is imperative to balance the flavors for the most enjoyable dessert.

While St. Patrick’s Day draws people to Guinness, the beer should not be forgotten on March 18. Keep that celebration and community spirit going all year long. After all, a drink precedes a story and the most memorable tales began with a beverage.
